Roofing in Butler Beach, FL

Butler Beach is the stretch of Anastasia Island south of the beach city and north of Crescent Beach, between the Matanzas River and the ocean. It carries the name of Frank B. Butler, the St. Augustine businessman who bought this shore in the 1920s and opened it to Black families when every other beach in the county was closed to them. The housing runs from 1950s and 1960s block homes on the streets between A1A and the river, to 1980s and 1990s houses on the ocean side, to raised builds from the last two decades. Shingle and metal share the blocks.

The ground is low between the dunes and the marsh. Ian's rain in September 2022 and Helene's tide in September 2024 both put water on Butler Beach streets, and a nor'easter here puts spray on the front slope and river humidity on the back. Roofs fail at the fasteners and the flashing first.

This site connects Butler Beach homeowners with an independent local roofing contractor by phone. It does not perform the work.

Butler Beach roofing, water on two sides

A leak at a screw line on a metal roof is a metal roofing question, and a leak at a chimney or wall on a 1960s block home is a roof repair. A house that took storm water at the floor and wind at the roof is two claims, and the insurance claims page explains why the roofing scope is kept separate.
